As I walked across the room, I heard Nick Sell (Charlie's little brother, on the Lane team), tell someone excitedly that Whitney Young's third board won against New Trier. It has been a while since WY winning a chess game stirred much surprise.
But then, I arrived at Table 4 to see Ryan stand up, and Isha just told me that his opponent flagged, and he won -- our board three -- not that is truly exciting news!
Matthew and Alejandro lost, but that still leaves us ahead, since Isha and Ryan won on higher boards.
Oh, man -- this is big.
